He got this one right: Challenging Fantasies of BRICS and the US Empire in Decline. Posted by Internationalist 360° on May 31, 2026. byStanfield Smith

Today the anti-war and left movement speak of US decline as if the empire is collapsing by itself. This attitude displays a defeatism and resignation in the face of US power. The empire can only be defeated by a long, difficult, painful class struggle, something that we have yet to be mobilized for.

I do not believe all those ALT media types really know the true nature of the lobotomized. infantilized, traumatized, Disneyfied Home Sapiens Consumopethicus Costcocolonized minds.

Few Americans know the history of how Israel’s “wag the tail” relationship with the United States developed. Israel’s 1967 successful war against its neighbors demonstrated to military planners in Washington how a qualitative edge in weapons could enable a small country to resist much larger and seemingly more powerful adversaries.

Israel was largely supplied with French weapons at the time, which reportedly outperformed the Russian equipment in the hands of Syria and Egypt.

As a consequence, in 1968, with strong support from a heavily lobbied Congress, Zionist influenced U.S. President Lyndon B Johnson approved the hitherto blocked sale of F-4 Phantom fighters to Israel, establishing the precedent for continuing U.S. support of Israel’s Qualitative Military Edge, generally referred to by the acronym QME, over its Arab and Christian neighbors.

Five years later, in the aftermath of the 1973 Yom Kippur War, the United States and Israel came to an understanding whereby they tacitly adopted the doctrine of active U.S. maintenance of Israel’s QME. After that war, the United States also quadrupled its foreign aid to Israel, effectively replacing France as Israel’s largest arms supplier.

Russia reverting back to dirty Jewish Control?

Conservative Russian political philosopher Boris Mezhuev writes that Moscow’s expert community has split into three camps over the Ukraine conflict: the “party of escalation,” the “party of freezing,” and the “party of Anchorage.”

The “Anchorage party,” he says, believes Russia can fulfil the relevant conditions from the Anchorage framework, allegedly agreed with Trump last summer, by reaching the borders of Donetsk Region by the end of the year, or earlier.

The escalation camp considers this unlikely and harmful, insisting that it wouldn’t solve the problem of Western pressure on Russia. So it wants to adopt a more aggressive approach.

The freezing camp believes Moscow should agree to a ceasefire now, without waiting for the situation to deteriorate, and call victory along the current front lines.

Mezhuev concludes that the freezing camp is very weak, while the escalation camp is making its case “at full volume.”

Now, the “declining empire” news:

Shawn Harris is aware of the political bind he faces in northwest Georgia.

“Because I live in a ruby-red district, I can’t have every nationally known Democrat come here and support me because it doesn’t fit what we’re trying to do,” said Harris, who is running for a congressional district formerly represented by Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene. President Donald Trump carried the district by more than 30 percentage points in 2024.

But after Pete Buttigieg reached out to Harris ahead of a March special election runoff for the seat, Harris made an exception and welcomed the former transportation secretary to the district. Harris lost in the runoff but significantly overperformed past Democratic margins there. He hopes Buttigieg will return this fall for the general election.

More dirty Japanese fucking news:

In September 2016, officials with Tokyo-based Nippon Paper Industries gathered in Longview to christen a decades-old pulp and paper mill they’d recently purchased from Seattle-based Weyerhaeuser.

Before a crowd of mill employees and politicians, Nippon executives planted a flowering cherry tree and introduced the renamed venture, Nippon Dynawave Packaging, “with a new identity and a renewed commitment to safely and responsibly providing world-class products,” according to a 2016 account in The (Longview) Daily News.

A decade later, that commitment is in question, following Tuesday’s catastrophic implosion and chemical spill at Nippon Dynawave Packaging.

Investigators are still determining what caused the rupture of a 900,000-gallon-capacity tank of “white liquor,” a highly caustic compound used in papermaking.

Nippon Paper has confirmed basic details of the spill and expressed its “deepest condolences and offer our heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families,” according to a statement.

Less clear, however, is what the disaster means for future operations at Nippon’s “liquid packaging” plant, which made material for paper cups, cartons and other paperboard products, and employed around 450 people. Around 550 people work in the company’s pulp and paper operations.

“The impact of this accident on the environment, production, shipments, and our financial performance is still currently being assessed,” the company said in an update Friday.

The incident comes amid continued changes in the U.S. pulp and paper industry, a major employer in communities like Longview.

In recent decades, industry consolidation, foreign competition and falling demand for traditional paper products, such as newsprint, have resulted in numerous mill closures in Washington.

Since 2001, papermaking employment in Longview and the rest of Cowlitz County has fallen 29%, to 2,310, as of late 2025, according to the state Employment Security Department. Statewide, papermaking employment is down nearly 60%, to 7,000 jobs.

No fucking heads on the chopping block? At least 11 people are confirmed dead.

The spill has also contaminated the Columbia River, but city officials said there is no threat to water in the area and that crews successfully diverted the contaminated water away from the wellhead protection area.

Back-to-Back Chemical Disasters Strike as Trump Seeks to Roll Back Safety Rules.

The drive to eliminate regulations comes as watchdog groups have raised concerns about close ties between EPA officials and the chemical industry. Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), a progressive nonprofit organization, analyzed the financial disclosures of several agency officials. The nonprofit found, in an analysis published in May, that 16 Trump-appointed EPA officials “were paid more than $2.8 million by chemical companies and trade groups” before they joined the agency.

The organization found that 23 separate chemical companies paid these EPA officials in the form of “salaries, bonuses, compensation for consulting and legal services and other payments.”

Nineteen of those companies faced enforcement actions by the EPA in the past for alleged violations of federal environmental laws.

“Given EPA officials’ deep ties to the chemical industry, the potential for the Trump administration’s proposed rollbacks to improve the bottom line of chemical companies, at the expense of people’s health, cannot be ignored,” the group said.

Shelters recognize that many would rather sleep on the street than leave their animals behind.

Ahh, you got it: Work has outpaced human capacityLearn to solve the right problems and help resolve burnout and bad hire decisions.

Strong leaders deliberately slow down and redesign work to reflect how humans and technology actually operate together. And when something breaks, they go back to the system rather than blaming the person closest to the failure.

If a founder wants to reach an eventual IPO or acquisition, the shift has to move from reactive hiring to intentional workforce design. Build the company around what people can sustain, and learn how to keep going forward sustainably.

This is what Clamydia and Syphilis look like in the Psychotic White Racist DNA: In the latest air travel news, the Trump administration’s new Department of Homeland Security chief says his department is working on plans to halt processing of inbound international travelers at major airports in sanctuary cities run by “radical-left Democrats”

“The move could effectively halt international air travel and commerce at major airports in Democratic states, with millions of foreign tourists expected to stream in for next month’s start of the FIFA World Cup.” In other words, it would create sheer chaos for airlines, airports and international travel in general, and if Mullin proceeds with the plan it would almost certainly face immediate legal challenges.

Banana Republic, bananas up our asses:

As Philadelphia reached 96 degrees last month, Penn experts found that the cost of staying cool during extreme heat can create financial and health challenges for vulnerable communities.

Despite known health risks associated with excessive heat, Penn researchers told The Daily Pennsylvanian that Pennsylvania lacks adequate support for residents experiencing energy insecurity. They found that expanding cooling assistance is a viable solution to alleviate financial burden and improve health outcomes.

Abstract

BACKGROUND:

Climate change is causing an increase in extreme heat. Individuals with cardiovascular disease are at high risk of heat-related adverse health effects. How the burden of extreme heat–associated cardiovascular deaths in the United States will change with the projected rise in extreme heat is unknown.

Heatwaves, cold snaps and heavy rain do more than disrupt your day. They can quietly raise your risk of heart disease, according to a new report in the American Journal of Preventive

METHODS:

We obtained data on cardiovascular deaths among adults and the number of extreme heat days (maximum heat index ≥90 °F [32.2 °C]) in each county in the contiguous United States from 2008 to 2019. Based on representative concentration pathway trajectories that model greenhouse gas emissions and shared socioeconomic pathways (SSP) that model future socioeconomic scenarios and demographic projections, we obtained county-level projected numbers of extreme heat days and populations under 2 scenarios for the midcentury period 2036 to 2065: SSP2-4.5 (representing demographic projections from a “middle-of-the-road” socioeconomic scenario and an intermediate increase in emissions) and SSP5-8.5 (demographic projections in an economy based on “fossil-fueled development” and a large increase in emissions). The association of cardiovascular mortality with extreme heat was estimated with a Poisson fixed-effects model. Using estimates from this model, the projected number of excess cardiovascular deaths associated with extreme heat was calculated.

RESULTS:

Extreme heat was associated with 1651 (95% CI, 921–2381) excess cardiovascular deaths per year from 2008 to 2019. By midcentury, extreme heat is projected to be associated with 4320 (95% CI, 2369–6272) excess deaths annually, which is an increase of 162% (95% CI, 142–182) under SSP2-4.5, and 5491 (95% CI, 3011–7972) annual excess deaths, which is an increase of 233% (95% CI, 206–259) under SSP5-8.5. Elderly adults are projected to have a 3.5 (95% CI, 3.2–3.8) times greater increase in deaths in the SSP2-4.5 scenario compared with nonelderly adults. Non-Hispanic Black adults are projected to have a 4.6 (95% CI, 2.8–6.4) times greater increase compared with non-Hispanic White adults. The projected change in deaths was not statistically significantly different for other race and ethnicity groups or between men and women.

CONCLUSIONS:

By midcentury, extreme heat is projected to be associated with a significantly greater burden of excess cardiovascular deaths in the contiguous United States.

God, more worthless local politics — LA? A Minister, a fucking Asian Minister?

There’s little chance either slot will go to Huang, a Presbyterian minister and activist who jumped into the race last November with plans to run from Bass’s left by campaigning on free buses, affordable housing, and police accountability. She has struggled to break 10 percent in the polls.

Raman, a city councilmember representing a sprawling district that spans the Los Feliz, Hollywood, and San Fernando Valley neighborhoods, surprised her allies and opponents alike when she joined the race just hours before the February filing deadline, but she has since amassed enough support that she could conceivably compete with Bass — or with Spencer Pratt, a right-wing reality TV star whose candidacy has fractured the city’s already divided left.

Listen and LEARN:

One result is that anti-war movements show themselves mostly powerless to impede US invasions, regime change operations, even genocide. While there were mass protests against the war on Iraq and the slaughters in Palestine, they had little impact on limiting these wars. The anti-war movements proved unable to disrupt war preparations, let alone economic production. This had a demoralizing impact, as many came to see mass protests as ineffective. Now, while at least 60% of people oppose the war on Iran, and 40% see the US as losing, no anti-war movement has developed. The anti-war left is unable, even unwilling to reach this majority.

This gives the ruling class freer hand to continue endless war – more and more their solution for maintaining world hegemony. By not focusing ourselves on expanding our power in the working class, by not organizing the class struggle forces that exist there, we are foregoing an opportunity to rebuild a class struggle left wing in the working class, where we would have real economic and political weight. We may console ourselves with the belief that the US empire is in decline, but we must admit we are failing in our mission as to why Marxists exist.

It is true that the US empire has declined from the height of power it held both right after World War II and again after the collapse of the Soviet bloc. It is not foreseeable that it will regain that position. The US empire’s weakest point came during its defeat in Vietnam. Movements around the world took advantage and carried out revolutions – such as in southern and Portuguese Africa, Libya in north, Iran and Afghanistan in the Middle East, Latin America and Caribbean, in Southeast Asia, in Portugal, and in 1968 France. But by the 1990s most of these had been undermined. Today, are revolutionary movements around the world taking advantage of US “decline” to seize power? No.

Since the Vietnamese victory, no socialist revolution has occurred in the past half a century. Instead, during this period socialism has suffered terrible defeats, not just with the collapse of the Soviet bloc, but all socialist countries today have increasingly turned to private enterprise measures. Nor has any First World country progressed in building a mass working class party.

Today the US rulers know they are losing ground to China’s economic powerhouse, its win-win trade, and its respect for other nations’ sovereign rights. So, US imperialism is fashioning new methods of world control, given old ones of past decades no longer work. It increasingly relies on crippling sanctions, blockades, overt and undercover coups, and military attacks to reverse this setback. It resorts to wrecking a country’s economic development, or even simply seizing its key resources. China can develop harmoniously with the world without resorting to brutality. The US cannot now, and wars of plunder are the best remaining option.

The US empire possesses powers that China and Russia lack. It basically owns the world media, giving it power to shape how we see events. This media is not primarily geared to providing information, but to massaging it. US media control operates as a regime change weapon. It is even able to convince people on the left, who swear they know the corporate media constantly lies. Many leftists believed Syria used chemical weapons on its people, that Trump and Putin colluded to steal the 2016 election were true stories. Neither Russia nor China can compete in this media arena.

Losing, uh, Phillip?
