Ortagus married Jonathan Weinberger, an attorney, in 2013, and the couple have a daughter, Adina, born in 2020. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Ortagus’s neighbor, presided over their wedding. This is her second marriage; her first ended in divorce.

Ortagus converted to Judaism after exploring the religion while living in Baghdad, Iraq.

The IDF is also investigating the possibility that, in addition to the explosive device, sniper fire was directed at the force — though this has not yet been conclusively determined. Additionally, the IDF is investigating the type of explosive device and its activation mechanism — whether it was triggered by the Humvee’s movement or by deliberate activation by terrorists [read: Palestinian freedom fighters].

Death: The Greatest Teacher | Lion's Roar

This Jew doesn’t get it: I still cry with some Israeli songs (from a certain era)

And this is not missing home, but a feeling of home, a deceiving dream that once almost consumed me, and still moves me | the latest in the ‘Leaving Israel’ series of posts

Early this month, I envisioned a September of Judgement for Israel. In the two weeks that ensued, we have seen unprecedented amounts of international activity against Israel: boycotts in sports and culture, economic and military sanctions, and more. Now, a few days away from the much-anticipated recognition of Palestine at the UN by major European countries and a growing international acceptance of Israel’s actions in Gaza as genocide, we are entering the most volatile and exhilarating period for resistance since October 7, 2023. It is a matter of days now before things, I believe, change dramatically.

Why I think that and how different local and geopolitical factors play into this prediction – that’s the subject of this video. And also, the big, major difference between Israel and South Africa of the apartheid era.

The same playbook 26 years ago:

US support to the KLA is only one among several sources of KLA financing. Various Islamic organisations have channeled money and military equipment to the KLA. Prior to the 1999 war,

“German, Turkish and Afghan instructors were reported to be training the KLA in guerilla and diversion tactics.”8

Mujehadeen mercenaries recruited in a number of countries fought against Serb Security forces alongside the KLA in Kosovo. According to the ‘Sunday Times,’ the recent assaults by the KLA’s proxy in the Tetovo region of Macedonia have been “encouraged by mercenaries from Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia.”9

Amply documented, the Balkans drug trade is used to finance ethnic warfare with the complicity of the US and NATO. The pattern of covert support – through the recycling of narco-dollars – has been an integral part of CIA covert operations since the Soviet-Afghan war. According to documents of the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), “members of the notorious Albanian mafia have links to a drug smuggling cartel” based in Kosovo’s capital, Pristina. This cartel is allegedly manned by ethnic Albanians who are members of the Kosovo National Front (KNF) whose armed wing is the KLA. The DEA documents apparently show it is one of the “most powerful heroin smuggling organisations in the world” with its profits being diverted to the KLA to buy weapons.10

In the words of former DEA agent and author Michael Levine:

“Ten years ago we were arming and equipping the worst elements of the Mujahadeen in Afghanistan – drug traffickers, arms smugglers, anti-American terrorists…Now we’re doing the same thing with the KLA, which is tied in with every known middle and far eastern drug cartel. Interpol, Europol, and nearly every European intelligence and counter-narcotics agency has files open on drug syndicates that lead right to the KLA, and right to Albanian gangs in this country.”11

JEWS in Jew-ifornia:

Over the last several months, it has faced strong opposition from more than 100 grassroots organizations, including the California Teachers Association, the California Faculty Association, California Federation of Teachers, the Association of California School Administrators, California School Boards Association, California Nurses Association, and the American Civil Liberties Union. They have staged regular demonstrations at the state capitol in Sacramento.

Those supporting the bill include the Jewish Federation, the Jewish Community Relations Council, Mosaic United, and the Anti-Defamation League. Though they were far fewer, they were able to exert more influence.

“They’re passing anti-education bills. The organizing around it has been strong. The entire education community is against it, but it was still passed,” Mirvette Judeh, chair of the Arab American Caucus of the California Democratic Party, told The New Arab.

“They’re not listening to voters. This is a bill that’s unconstitutional. Today, it’s education about Palestinian history. Tomorrow it could be something else. To punish teachers for teaching about genocide is absolutely insane,” she said.

The artworks were designed using engraving and manual printing of archaeological landmarks in the Gaza Strip and postage stamps used in Palestine during the past eras, in addition to landmarks of ancient public life.

That was July 2023: In Gaza, he says, “We have dozens of the archaeological sites that have great value (….) because of the Israeli occupation, most of our archaeological sites lost their position as none of the locals would take care of them.”

“We decided to focus on our archaeological sites and to spread awareness among our local people of their history. We send our message to Israel and the international community that we have a history and will keep it for our upcoming generation,” he added.

According to an archaeological guide recently issued by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in Gaza, there are about 145 archaeological landmarks in the Gaza Strip.

“The guide contains historical evidence of public life, such as markets, khans, fountains, public baths, Sabata (a narrow-arched corridor between two houses), corners, shrines and archaeological cemeteries,” Issam Daalis, the head of the Committee for Follow-up of Government Work in Gaza, said to TNA.

“The guide allocates a detailed space on the history of archaeological sites, both Islamic and Christian, and documents part of the Ayyubid, Mamluk and Ottoman civilisation, in addition to examples of educational and social lifestyles, by studying the history of ancient palaces and you,” he said.

Psychosis of Whiteness: Katherine Clark and Hakeem Jeffries, the top Democrats in the US House of Representatives, this week dodged questions about Israel’s attack on Qatar.

When deaths resulting from imposed deprivation (indirect deaths) are factored into mortality data, the total figures will be higher than those from only violent deaths (direct deaths). Eminent epidemiologist Professor Devi Sridhar (chair of Global Health, University of Edinburgh) reported in an article in The Guardian a ‘conservative estimate of four indirect deaths per one direct death’.

Assuming that deaths from deprivation were four times the violent deaths, then the 136,000 violent deaths after 15.5 months of killing (25 April 2025) would imply 544,000 Gaza deaths from imposed deprivation, and that the total Gazan death toll would accordingly be 136,000 violent deaths plus 544,000 from imposed deprivation, leading to a staggering total of 680,000 deaths by 25 April 2025. Most of these victims, as indicated in earlier counts by the Ministry of Health, are women and children.

Shocking in its enormity, the figure of 680,000 is derived from calculations based on other conflicts around the world. The UNHCR, Reword Global Law and Policy Database has found that the ratio of indirect deaths (non-violent deaths from imposed deprivation) to direct deaths (violent deaths) ranges from about two to 16 in a variety of wars in recent decades. Indeed, estimates of violent deaths and non-violent deaths from deprivation drawn from UN Population Division data, reveal direct deaths in the Iraq War (2003-2011) of 1.5 million and indirect deaths of 1.2 million, yielding a total of around 2.7 million deaths, a ratio of 1.5:1.2. The ratio of direct deaths/indirect deaths in the Afghan War (2001–2021) is estimated to be 0.4 million/6.4 million, that is deaths from deprivation 16 times the death toll of violent deaths.
