Aid kitchen runs out of food in south Gaza, children scrape cooking pots for remnants
Many forcibly displaced Palestinians who gathered in large crowds at an aid kitchen in southern Gaza’s Khan Younis went hungry as the facility reportedly ran out of food.
After the kitchen was forced to shut down, crying children used their hands to scoop bits of rice left in large empty cooking pots.
“The food ran out,” said Adel Mohammad, who was hoping to get a meal of rice – the only food being served – for his children.
“At night they wake up hungry,” he said.

On this day in anarchist history, December 9th 1987, we remember the start of the 1st Palestinian Intifada, a years long decentralized uprising of Palestinians against Israeli colonial occupation.Sparked by an incident at the Erez Crossing in Gaza where an Israeli military vehicle crashed into a line of Palestinian civilian vehicles, the 1st Intifada quickly spread throughout Gaza and to the West Bank.For six years, Palestinians, rallied, rioted, withheld taxes and staged armed attacks. While leadership of the Intifada was largely based within Neighbourhood Councils, the corrupt PLO used it as a bargaining chip for peace talks with Israel. While calls of the Intifada were for the total withdrawal of Israel from all Palestinian lands the PLO called for a two-state solution including the formation of a Palestinian state in Gaza and the West Bank. The two-state solution would never come to fruition and the brutality of Israeli occupation has continued to this day.

Trump’s pledge to pardon people prosecuted for their part in the Capitol riot of January 6, 2021, on his “first day” back in the White House – made during his Meet the Press interview with Kristen Welker on NBC on Sunday – has already inspired the first defendant to request a delay to their upcoming trial, hopeful of winning a reprieve.
Trump promised to act “quickly” on the matter but did offer the caveat that his administration would review “independent cases” rather than issue a blanket clemency order.
Meanwhile, ex-Republican representatives Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger have hit back at the president-elect for suggesting during the same interview that they should be jailed for participating in the House panel that investigated the attempted insurrection.
Cheney called his comments “a continuation of his assault on the rule of law and the foundations of our republic.”
