A new study of the case records of the men and women executed in the United States between 2000 and 2015 has found that 21st-century executions disproportionately involve prisoners diagnosed with mental illness and who have experienced traumatic child abuse.

At least 44 people with intellectual disability were executed before the Supreme Court banned such executions in 2002.

Google has come to an agreement to settle a $5 billion privacy lawsuit that alleges it spied on people who used the “incognito mode” option in Google Chrome.

The lawsuit was filed three years ago and claimed the company told its users that it wasn’t tracking whatever they were doing on the internet while in incognito mode. However, the lawsuit argued that Google’s analytics, cookies, and apps tracked their activity even when they set the browser to private.

A New York state judge on Monday denied a motion to dismiss a lawsuit against several social media companies alleging the platforms contributed to the radicalization of a gunman who killed 10 people at a grocery store in Buffalo, New York in 2022, court documents show.

“The Court has determined the complaint sufficiently pleads viable causes of action to go forward at this stage of the litigation,” said Erie County Supreme Court Justice Paula Feroleto.
